The final rite is cutting the hair. It marks your exit from ihram. Once it is done, your Umrah is complete.
Halq: shaving (men)
- The whole head is shaved
- The more rewarded choice for men; the Prophet ﷺ prayed three times for those who shave
- Barbers are all around the Marwah exits
Taqsir: shortening
- Hair is shortened evenly from the whole head (men)
- Women cut a fingertip's length from the ends of their hair, gathered together
- Women do not shave their heads
- Can be done privately, for example at the hotel
“O Allah, accept this Umrah from me, forgive my sins, and grant me the reward You have promised Your righteous servants.”
After shaving or shortening the hair.
After your Umrah
All the restrictions of ihram are lifted. You can change into normal clothes, use perfume, and return to everyday life. May Allah accept your Umrah.
Many pilgrims also visit Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. It is not part of Umrah, but it is a cherished part of the journey. Find a hotel in Madinah.
