About UmrahGuide

Who writes this guide, how content is reviewed, where our data comes from, and how we stay independent.

Updated 23 October 2026Draft: awaiting review1 min read

UmrahGuide is an independent guide for pilgrims, written in plain language and published in twelve languages. It is not affiliated with the Saudi government, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, or any travel agent.

How we review content

Every guide page shows when it was last reviewed. Religious content is checked against the Quran and hadith sources shown on each page. Where scholars differ, we say so and point you to ask a scholar you trust. Pages awaiting review are marked as drafts.

Where the data comes from

  • Hotels, gates, restaurants and pharmacies: OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL), refreshed regularly
  • Walking times: computed on the OpenStreetMap footpath network (OSRM), at normal walking pace without crowds
  • Climbs: elevation data from Open-Meteo
  • Prayer times: Aladhan, Umm al-Qura method
  • Weather: Open-Meteo
  • Exchange rates: ExchangeRate-API

If you spot something wrong, such as a hotel that has closed or a rule that has changed, please tell us.

Independence

There are no paid placements. Hotel and flight links open booking or comparison sites so you can see live prices. If we add partner links in future, we will label them clearly on every page where they appear.
